Apotheosis

What is Apotheosis?

Apotheosis is defined as the elevation of someone to divine status or the act of deification. Think of it as a divine version of metamorphosis.

Jesus at tomb

Why does this matter?

In a strict mechanics reason? Your character is not able to purchase Legend level 9. It’s a reward. It’s where the game changes at a fundamental mechanics level that you have to be prepared for. This does come with the bonus of not having to pay 64xp out of your pocket.

Inside the game? Because the act of becoming a god is not something that happens without a few very other important things happening first…

1. Your character must be at the pinnacle of Demigodhood (Legend 8).
2. They must earn the respect of the gods of their pantheon.
3. Then and only then, they must perform a godly feat never before accomplished.

What does that mean?

Ultimately, that’s up to you. I’ll be here to help and brainstorm with you so you don’t feel like I’m putting the weight of the world on your shoulders.

It also means that you need to seriously start thinking about what the God-level transfer means for your character. Traditionally in myth, for someone to become a God they have to very literally die and be reborn or lifted into the heavens. For some of you death may end up being a part of your story that transcends your soul into godhood.

I’ve compiled a list of 50 questions you need to think on here. There will be bonus XP in it for you if you fill this out and send it back to me or sit down with me and go through it so that we both grasp where your character is headed in this last power-level of the game. Even if the XP I’m offering is not a good enough lure for you, I still urge your strongly to read this over and brainstorm, because without it your character may never make that final leap into godhood.

What does becoming a god get me?

In attaining godhood, a Scion’s body undergoes its final metamorphosis, becoming a construct of pure ichor. This construct of ichor is inhabited by the Scion’s “immortal” spirit. This transformation grants the new god several bonuses:

1. Three New Boons
2. Attribute Increases
3. Epic Attribute Increases
4. Choose Epic Attributes & Boons
5. Access to New Birthright Relic Types
6. Free Birthright Dots
7. Additional Bonus Points

1. Three New Boons

There is no need to purchase these boons, all Gods have them and they are not associated with any purview. They have no dot-level and are not influenced by the possession or the loss of your relics.

Release Spirit
Dice Pool: None
Cost: None
The Scion may now shed his/her corporeal form and exist as only an immaterial spirit form as a 1-tick action. Although Gods are effectively immune to the effects of physical damage in spirit form, they are also unable to physically affect things themselves. When a God becomes immaterial, all physical items in his possession (except Birthright relics) remain physical and clatter to the ground. (Note: Damage taken when a God is in his physical form remains if the God becomes immaterial. He’s immune to further damage when he’s immaterial, but when he re-materializes, he still bears the wounds his physical body took.)
While this incorporeal form is much like a ghost’s existence it is NOT a form of death and as such gods in this form do not fall under the powers available to users of the Death purview.
However, gods in their immaterial form become incredibly vulnerable to absorption by Greater Titans if this ability is used within a Titan’s borders.

Construct Avatar Form
Dice Pool: None
Cost: special, 5 x Current Legend
The Scion constructs a body out of ichor – tearing and reforming from the foundations of existence a physical form of Legend. In so doing, he manifests physically with his full power, which has its full effect on the skein of Fate.
This boon is modified by owning a Birthright Relic Avatar Form.

Appear Before the Faithful
Dice Pool: None
Cost: 1 Legend
By spending only a single point of Legend, an immaterial God may become tangible enough
to be seen and heard for a single scene, though he or she remains immune to physical damage.

2. Attribute Increases

Prioritize your 3 types of Attributes – Physical, Social & Mental – to be increased by a 4, 3 & 2 free dots.

Assign these free dots as you see fit.

3. Epic Attribute Increases

As a god one’s existence is refined and improved by Apotheosis. Assign one free dot to Epic Strength, Epic Dexterity, Epic Stamina & Epic Appearance.

Each dot also awards a free knack as per usual. The exception being that the dot in Epic Stamina should be used to acquire the knack Extended Youth unless you plan for your god to grow ancient and be affected by time’s ravages.

4. Choose Epic Attributes & Boons

A god has 10 free dots to purchase new Epic Attributes and Boons with.

5. Access to New Birthright Relic Types
