Bio:

Marco was born in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Mexico City to a family that already had 6 other children. It was clear even as an infant that Marco was going to be special in… more ways than one. By six months Marco was crawling. By nine months he could walk with hand holds, and by a year he could run, if a tad unsteadily. However, he seemed lacking in other areas. He couldn’t so much as say “mama” or “papa” by the time he could run, and by the time most of his brothers and sisters had started their first sentences he was barely getting out two-word phrases.

Marco’s divine father decided early that he was not going to amount to much and was ready to stop paying him much attention when Tezcatlipoca told Huitzilopochtli that he had a prophetic vision in which he saw Marco standing triumphant on top of the world and that if his divine parent didn’t want him, he would gladly take over. Whether Tezcatlipoca was lying or not, Huitzilopochtli, not wanting to surrender Marco over to the other god, especially if he did have this much potential, instead redoubled his efforts to make sure his son would grow into a powerful scion.

Marco’s family accordingly would find that they always had just barely enough to get by. However they never had any room for luxury, and thus one of the things Marco was told whenever he was growing up was that things have to be “fair.” This lesson did sink in quite heavily even with the fact that Marco was barely reading by the time he should have been in the second grade.

School, however, was another problem. Marco was in remedial classes almost his entire time in school, but he didn’t tend to cause trouble and his teachers always said he was a sweet child. But the problems arose on the playground and in the lunchroom. A number of school bullies began picking on Marco when he was in grade school, but he kept quiet. They would push him around, take his food, and call him little boy “El Nino.” Marco did as his teachers had told him and didn’t incite the bullies or talk back to them at all. But all the while he couldn’t help but think that this wasn’t fair. It wasn’t the proper way of things.

So one day, several years later in his first year of high-school, when these bullies came to him again he finally decided to make things fair. He returned every push, every taunt, every insult, and every little bit of animosity in a whirlwind of violence and screaming. He wasn’t old enough to be tried in court as an adult, but his family was fined heavily for his assault charges, and went completely bankrupt. His brothers and sisters, most of them older than Marco, blamed him for their economic hardships and began trying to drive him out of the family. His mother and mortal step father (neither of whom ever knew the truth of his parentage) tried to defend him, but to save them the trouble he simply left at the age of fifteen.

He lived on the streets of Mexico City for two years, joining a street gang for a while to survive, before his divine father finally came for his visitation. By this point Huitzilopochtli had begun to see the potential in his son as well, and knew where it could lead him, so he brought as a birthright a powerful spear. He gave the spear to Marco and tried to explain the truth of Marco’s parentage, but this only enraged Marco. How could he have been left to grow up like that when his father was a god? That wasn’t fair at all. But he didn’t say anything to his father. Not then. He simply decided that he would take this gift as the first installment in what would be a long line of reciprocity. He decided he would take from the gods what they should have given him a long time ago. He has not sided with the Titans, but he has sided against the gods.

He now goes by “El Nino” out of a sense of irony. He is 6’2" and weighs 240lbs. He is also heavily scarred on the right side of his face from a bad shoot-out he was in on the streets of Mexico City. It seems like every year the scars look worse, but he has recently tattooed the left side to try to make up for it. He’s been told that it just made him look more frightening.

One of Marco’s pass-times when he was still in school was watching a lot of videos of boxing and wrestling matches. He is a big fan of Muhammed Ali, and has re-named his birthrights after Ali’s famous fighting style.

Inadequate Life: Marco’s family was poor and under-privileged throughout his childhood, and being the mental runt that he was, Marco spent much of his childhood at the butt of jokes and jeers. He was taught the meaning and importance of fairness, only to find out that nothing was fair.

Need for Vindication: Marco believes that everything should be fair, and that includes his life. He feels like he has been given an unfitting lot in life by his father and by the world, and he intends to take that lot by force.

The Plan: Marco does not have a plan. He has goals, but no plan. He is perfectly happy helping people whose plans will achieve his goals.

The Great Sin: Marco has decided that in order to take his plan seriously, he must be ready, willing, and able to kill any god-sired he meets. He knows he couldn’t assault a god, but he can certainly thin their numbers by hunting their young. He will, of course, not necessarily kill them on sight—and will spare them entirely if they are actively hindering the divines—but all others are fair game for the hunt.
